Sea Freight Controller

We have an opportunity available in Sandton for experienced Sea Freight Controller.

Expected duties: Containerized Shipment Planning & Execution: Planning and distribution of shipments according to monthly sales forecast. Ensure shipment plans align with stock availability to meet the forecast requirements. Ensure booking confirmations and shipping instructions are provided to warehouses timeously, enabling on-time packing and the drafting of Original Bills of Lading (OBLs). Daily monitoring of warehouse packing and stacking progress to prevent delays, minimize additional costs, and ensure timely issuance of shipping documents.

Documentation & Compliance: Generate and submit draft bills of lading for approval within 24 working hours after packing is completed for both containerized and break-bulk shipments, ensure all bill of lading amendments are communicated to LSPs without delay, with corrected drafts received within 24 working hours of the amendment request. Release or courier final bills of lading within 7 working days of vessel sailing. Provide the company with courier tracking details and scanned copies when B/Ls are sent by courier.

Storage Cost Control & Cargo Turnaround: Complete and distribute the weekly departures report to Tracking and Stock team weekly as per 7-day weekly cycle. Work closely with the tracking and stock teams to ensure cargo is shipped promptly after arrival at the warehouse to minimize storage costs and avoid unnecessary delays.

Basic salary on offer: R 30 000.00 negotiable depending on experience with benefits.
